Death Touch Cross
Hi all. Death Touch Cross is something I’ve sort of been sitting on for a while. I wanted to do another brand different from Ghostship that focuses more towards cyclocross. And DTC was born. I did a [very] small run of OG DIY stickers and handed almost all of them out at races over the course of the past 2 years. I’m planning on doing some other small, limited, fun items that can only be copped at the races this year. More on that later…
In the meantime, I finally used some drawings I had in my sketchbooks to put together the first DTC shirt via Society6. There are a bunch of different colored shirt options, and pretty much all sizes are represented. Want a hoodie instead? Pick from a standard pull-over or a zip-up. If you order now through 5/27/12 (that’s Sunday), you can save some extra cash with free shipping. Pretty solid deal. So get on it. Grip it and rip it in style.
New D&D Pieces
Our Drink & Draw nights have been a little lacking lately, so I was able to knock out a couple of pieces on my own at my home studio. Don’t worry. I can assure you that the same malty/hopped goodness that fuels my regular D&D pieces was still involved. If you click on the image, it will take you to Society 6. The place on the interwebs that helps me schlep my art for a little scratch. If you like what you see but aren’t in the market for some awesome new art, or a sweet new case to house your illmatic iDevice, you can still help me out. If you make a profile in Society 6 (it’s free and easy), you can ‘promote’ my pieces that you enjoy. You can also click the little ‘Facebook Like’ button in there to tell all of your friends on the FB’s how much you dig my piece[s]. Any bit of love I can get for my work will definitely help me out. Thank you friends! The first is my latest. More to come…
And the second one is my ‘next-latest’.
Commerce
Well, as I’ve stated earlier, diamond encrusted handlebars and kitty toys made from genuine Bald-Eagle don’t come so easily anymore. In an effort to support my opulent life-style, I’ve thrown my hat into the ring of print-on-demand outfits. I’ll slowly be adding pieces as we go. For now, enjoy prints [or an iGadget case] of one of my favorite Drink & Draw pieces. Thanks for taking an interest in my work. If there’s anything else you’d like to see, please let me know. Click on the image below to be whisked away to bask in the awesome that is Society 6.
Eli’s Mural Piece
Even though it doesn’t really feel like it, May is here, and the fine folks over at Eli Cannon’s have opened up their back patio. That means I can finally share the mural they recently commissioned me to complete and tie the back area together. Eventually, we’ll get some nice, pro-quality shots to add to the portfolio. Until then, you’ll have to suffer with my overcast-photo-shopped landscape cobbled-together version. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did painting it.
Mural Work
The fine folks from Eli Cannon’s called me a couple of weeks ago, and together, we hatched a plan to get busy on a portion of unpainted wall-space. It took me about 2 full sessions to complete the new piece, which ties in nicely with the last piece I did there, last year. The unveiling is coming, but until then, here’s a little teaser…shot by the talented Becka.
Brain Off, Pain Off
Viva Los Vagrants. Lost Wages. The Artcrank show at Interbike in Las Vegas is now underway. It’s been killing me, but I had to hold off on showing my poster until the show was up. For those of you who’ve asked about obtaining a copy, there is a possibility. The posters are for sale at the Artcrank show. If you’re not in Vegas and not a member of the bicycle industry, your chances of being able to purchase a poster is pretty much none for the moment. However, if there are any left after the show, Artcrank will be starting to sell the left-overs on their website. I believe that they are in the process of starting up their e-commerce section. When it’s ready, I will most definitely be putting the word out. I may be doing a second run of posters as well, with some alternate color selections. I’m thinking acid greens and other toxic colors. Could be fun. I hope everyone enjoys this piece as much as I did while I was drawing it. 11×14 hand-screened, 4-color poster. The red, yellow, and orange were all done individually, by hand on each poster.
Interbike ArtCrank
I’ve been invited to create a piece for the ArtCrank show at Interbike this year in Las Vegas. ArtCrank is a “poster-party for bicycle people”. Basically, artists create bicycle-inspired work, make posters, and ArtCrank sells them at their openings. A portion of the proceeds are donated to bicycle friendly groups and charities. I’m equally stoked and terrified to be included in this show. You see, I’ve basically got two weeks to make my art, print 30 posters and ship it all out to Sin City in time for the opening. Being versed in screen printing, I definitely have a bit of an easier time…but it’s still a very short time-table. Add into the mix my work schedule, racing and a cold I just came down with this week, and you get a better picture of the clamoring fear that I feel with every day that passes. I’m excited to be part of the show, and can’t wait to see how my piece will turn out, and hope that it will go as smoothly as possible. Tune in for more…

Finished Mural
Instead of sleeping in, or riding 100mi on my road bike, or playing guitar and singing poorly, I elected to use my day off to finish the mural I started at Eli Cannon’s this past Sunday. If you’re really inclined to see what it looked like before it was done, check out my previous post. (That might make you a little strange, but it’s ok. I still love you.) I gotta admit, I was a little stressed out over the facial features on this one. I can draw them, paint them, etc all on paper…with a pencil, pen or brush. But spray cans are relatively new to me. So I hyped myself up to it in the car on the ride to the bar. I convinced myself that I was going to crush it and not be afraid of it anymore. (thank big baby jebus i had one LAST ultra-thin cap left). I think I did alright. I neglected to mention that this piece was completely free-styled from start to finish. No sketches, prelims, pre-planning. I just showed up, threw on some gloves, my respirator and got to work.
The angle I shot the photos at is a little strange, but made for the best photos. Like all art, it definitely looks better in person (duh!). And it looks even better when you sit and reflect on it with a beer in hand. If anyone is interested, I’m taking on a small amount of commission work. Murals or small pieces. Hit me up. Enjoy! Comments are welcomed.
A special thank-you is due to Phil and Carrie from Eli’s for allowing me the freedom to mark up their space with my art. You guys are the best! Go visit them and have a beer or two. If you’re not friends with Eli’s on the Facebooks, you should be.
Mural Work
I started a new mural yesterday thanks to the good folks over at Eli Cannon’s. I worked til I was worked, and will be finishing it up this week sometime. More pics to follow when I put the wraps on it. Enjoy!
Please Hold…
Packing is serious bidness. Moving sucks. Unpacking isn’t much fun either. Subsequently, I haven’t had a space to make art for a couple of weeks. To pass the time, here’s a recent piece Drink & Draw piece. Hoping that it’s new owner is loving it!

Excuse the crap cell phone pic. Thank you.
